is this the end???
it's with a heavy heart that i inform you, fans of UNION OF LANTERNS, that the band as you know it is coming to an end.

we've had some great shows and great times, but unfortunately the industry is in such a place right now that there is no room for a band such as ours to grow and flourish as it might have thirty, or forty years ago. the music industry has become a sick and twisted place where almost all indie bands, and even signed bands, are doomed to financial ruin and being given no opportunity to make a decent living.

however, all is not lost, as i will still be doing shows in the near future as a solo artist, and Darren should be following close behind me doing the same.

this break-up is not due to personal conflict, and Darren and myself will do everything we can to collaborate with each other in the future when the opportunity arises, as well as keep open to the opportunity of playing as a foursome if we can.

i love everyone in the band and hate to see it go down this way, but the dream lives on and you WILL see Union of Lanterns in concert again, one day. That I promise you.

we still hope to do what will now be considered our "farewell" full band shows on Friday August 22nd at Unity Jam at City Hall in Kitchener, and Saturday August 23rd at the Karma Art Gallery, also in Kitchener. Darren and I also have a show as an acoustic duo on August 30th, as well as one in November and December.

i love everyone who has supported us and considers themselves a fan. The light will keep shining, you can count on that. thanks, guys.

Love,
Thomas
