crying song
"crying song" was originally inspired by "Kissing You" by Desree (it's in Baz Luhrman's "Romeo and Juliet")... don't even ask me how or why it inspired the song, because the songs never sounded alike at all, but that was the song in my head when i first sat down to write this song...
oddly enough i started writing the song on piano, a semitone down from where the song would eventually end up (i.e. it used to be one step lower in pitch, for those who don't study music)... i bumped the song up from a minor to b-flat minor because i liked the idea of singing it higher than the Oasis songs that were also an inspiration to "crying song" (i thought of Liam Gallagher singing the song)... i changed some of the lyrics about two or three or four years after the song was finished to better reflect the tough times i was going through..
the song was originally called "don't cry" but my sister kept calling it "crying song" so I figured I'd let her have her way.
